Academic Composition

Problem/solution identification: You will work in small groups to identify some problem or issue on campus or in the local community. Your group will conduct observations, interviews, surveys, and secondary (library) research to investigate the problem/issue thoroughly. The only issue that is off limits for this project is the parking situation on campus.

You will then be responsible for creating two "documents" related to the problem you identified as a group:

1. an Annotated Bibliography, described here.

2. an Academic Composition, a 3-5 page report-style document. Your group report will provide an abstract of the report itself, outline the problem/issue, provide an informed overview of the research you've done (an analysis of the research & a bibliography), explain the possible causes and consequences of this problem, provide a few informed and educated solutions to the problem, and include a list of references cited in APA style..

Important Dates for this Project:

• Online Peer Review of the Academic Composition begins on Thursday, October 29th.

• Academic Composition is due online no later than midnight on Thursday, November 5th.

• October 15th--Meet in the library room 225A for library/research instruction
• October 17th--online class & your group's project proposal will be posted to moodle no later than Monday, October 20th at 9:00 am
• October 20th--peer review of project proposals & hand these in to me
• October 27th--peer review of group reports
• October 29th--work day
• November 3rd--present group projects to the class
• November 10th--hand in group projects and revised group reports
