From time to time you will be asked to write a summary of, and critical response to, our course textbook. Your summaries should be 100-words long and your responses should be 150 words long.
The summaries and responses you write will help understand better how to incorporate source material into your own academic texts. These reading responses will also, and more importantly, prepare you to engage critically with the difficult, and sometimes even opaque, academic texts that you encounter throughout college. In other words, the reading/summarizing/responding skills you develop and practice in WRT 160 should transfer to your course work in other general education classes and, eventually, in your course work for a major.
